Windows 7: The Next Version of Windows – First Official Photos on Gizmodo

Windows Vista hasn’t caught on. In fact, I don’t even plan on getting it unless I actually buy a new computer for my business start up and I am only getting it because I want to see what it can do (or not do). Besides, how can I do consulting in media and tech if I don’t know what stuff can and can’t do? lol

For me the bottom line with windows 7 is if they do not have a working database driven operating system (what they planned on having for Vista but dropped), then it is still not worth switching. the future is data retrieval and information creation. Using the old file type system for searching data just won’t cut it when it would be far better to use database clustering.

Anyway, pictures of the new system are at Gizmodo. Link below.

iPhone vs. BlackBerry Bold: Side-by-Side Photos and Video

As seen on Gizmodo and can also be seen on iPhoneBlog.com. All I have to say is that I don’t get the comparison. The iPhone is really for personal entertainment and fun with a small mix of professional/business life. The BlackBerry Bold is more professional with a touch of fun and entertainment.

So if your more into music, video (like TV and Movies), sharing photos, taking pictures and surfing the web (with so many websites using flash, why DOESN’T the iPhone and the Touch not see flash) then you want the iPhone. If you want to really use MS Word, Powerpoint, email, and have many of the cell phone features you are accustomed to (like voice activation, video recording and such) then you want the Bold.

Me? I am still fixed on getting the Centro from either Sprint or AT&T. Its a matter of cost, how much can I get off percent wise, and which color I want (AT&T has the really cool looking soft white and green one, but Sprint has this red one that is too cool). That will be my work and business phone. My personal phone will most likely be a iPhone (I love the entertainment features, but as a business phone, it sucks).

Pink Diamond Couture from Trina

Trina goes Couture!! She decides to get into the clothing game and make something for the ladies. I hear that women keep their favorite jeans longer than their relationships. I don’t, I just heard this somewhere.

I am guessing she is targeting the high end market being that the word Couture is in there. I think that is a great idea and I think she should keep it marketed to those individuals. Do not mass produce this ish please. Nothing like fat profits on clothing that costs 60 dollars to make but your selling it for 120 (I’m looking at you Coogi LMAO)

And yes, I am quoting myself up their cause I posted this info on Sneakers and Shoes as well in the “In Fashion News” category. Oh and just in case you forgot who Trina is…

I bet the guys remember (and a few of the ladies I guess). I decided I will follow Trina and her fashion plate and create a special category page for her (like what I will make for Baby Phat, Doreon, Rocawear, Sean John ands some other clothing lines that deal in couture as well as everyday wear)

And there it is… Shop Trina now if you want it. I tell you, there is a whole lot of hustle going on in the music industry. I think everybody sees what’s coming. By the way, she also has some perfumes coming out too. Read all about it on Dr. Jays blog.

THE CITY OF TOOTHPICKS (NOW WITH PICTURES)

This has to be the coolest thing I have seen on the internet in days. As someone who is sort of into Architecture and real estate, I find this sooooo cool!!! Look at what buildings he picked to be in this collage of buildings. From The World Trade Center to that really cool building that I can’t remember the name of right now to the Brooklyn Bridge.

For more pictures and info, click the link below. Very grown and sexy to be into architecture and the built environment (why? cause you live in it lol)

City of Toothpicks | He also stole all my toothpicks :@ « Omg OWNED!!$#%$$@! =p

Coogi If Lux Could Kill Line Looks Pretty Good

I am sort of a fan of Coogi (but I think its too expensive) but I would not consider it grown and sexy, but this Lux Could Kill look is actually nice. Its a little over the top but cool with it and I can defiantly get with that.

Get it with the shirt (polo shirt costs $88) and the fitted cap (cap costs $51) and you have a nice look. I wouldn’t get the Coogi sneaker just to match. I rather get a pair of old school Puma’s or a nice pair of adidas.

Sold on Dr. Jays

IF LUXE COULD KILL DENIM SHORTS for $98.00

Tech and Phones: I Need A Business Phone – Palm Centro

Saw this review and made me think more and more about me getting this Phone. I am also trying to find out whether it is smart for me to have a separate business pone and a personal phone. I think it is AWESOMELY smart to keep personal and business exspeces separate.

What phone do I want for personal use you ask? The iPhone. I bought the iPod Touch for someone else, but they didn’t want it and since I had it engraved (lol I feel so dumb) I figured I better keep it. And guess what? I really like it. Music is great, video is great (I watch movies all the time on it), podcasts are cool and the internet…. WONDERFUL!!! I do not know of any cell phone that you can see the internet as it is meant to be seen. Since the Touch uses WiFi for internet connection, I don’t know if they purposely disabled watching video within websites or not. I can only view video online if it is on YouTube.

I really think I will get the Centro and the iPhone.I’m going to do more research but I am pretty sure that this is what I’m going to do. Anyway, here is a commercial link I saw that puts the Sprint Instinct verses the iPhone. My Touch loads faster than that but its uses WiFi. Plus i can easily zoom in on any part of the page and they don’t show that for the Instinct.

Debt-squeezed Gen X saves little… Oh Good Lawd We In Trouble

Ladies and gentlmen, those in their late 20′s and early 30′s, guess what? We are in trouble.

Long ago our parents used to automattically get those pension checks. Back when we were born in the late 70′s and early 80′s (what makes a generation anyway lol) 68% of workers had pensions for security, but now that number is reversed. Basically 68% DON’T have pensions at all. The only reason why so many of us have 401K is because of a law passed in Congress back in 2006 that made is super easy to get it from work.

And don’t get me started at employee loyalty… you should expect , unless you have a union (and maybe not even then) to possibly find yourself unemployed. I try to tell my fellow peoples that depending on which state you live in, you don’t really have a right to a job. In other words, an employer can fire you just because they wan to (the reason why they don’t is that they don’t want a bad rep and the lawsuits cost money even if they win).

By the way, do you have a Roth Ira? I don’t (yet) and many of us, especially the grown and sexy, do not either. I would like to think I would have done better than most considering my financail abilities, but guess what?

So now I’m in a worst senerio; basically starting over at 30.  Lost my job at the worst time (2001 August) and had credit card debt that ballooned after not finding work that paid more than 15K a year (living in NYC on 15K is not fun) and yes I have a full  year college degree. The good news is that I learned one very important thing: do not depend on your job or a check. You have to, I repeat YOU HAVE TO figure out how your money will work for you. 401k’s, 457k’s, IRA’s IRA Roths and those “retire in this many years” mutual funds. to start with it something to think about but that is just the beginning.

Buying a House an Automatic Investment… NOT

Buying a house IS NOT an investment UNLESS you figure out a way to make it one. Just because you have equity in your home doesn’t make the home a asset either. Why? Because how much money has to come out of your pocket before you get to use this equity? What do you have to do to get the equity out? Another loan right? hat do you do with this money? The only real answers should be 401K, refurbish the house, small business investment, or education, NOT buy a car, pay off credit card and such.

Don’t get me wrong, getting a house is a good move when you think about your move. Its hard to go wrong with it especially if you pay 6-7 hundred dollar rent in your area and that is what your monthly payment would be on your own house (including all taxes and interest on the loan). Also, if the houses are too expensive where you live try to think about getting something somewhere else if you can. I am. My house will most likely be in some other state. I live in NYC, one of the most expensive place to live in the US. No way I’m buying a 600,000 to 800,000 dollar house that only has 2 bedrooms lol.

Houses around my way are in the 700-900 thousand range. Some are in the million range. believe me when i say this, those houses are NOT worth that. And so what that they have the ability to be a 4 family house. The rent would have to be 2500 a month for each to pay the mortgage… and no that doesn’t include all the NYC taxes.

Its not to late my grown and sexy people!!!

It is never too late to find out about how this money thing works. You need to just like I do. We all spend it, use it, save it and try to invest it. You should know what a 5 year ARM is, what a CD is, what ratios can be used to look at a financial statement, what APR is, and so forth. What’s an IRA Roth? What’s a small cap mutual fund? I highly suggest that you look into creating your own business part time. Do not be afraid of failure! You are not in school anymore and the Bell Curve does not apply in real life. You fail when you do not learn from what went wrong.

Don’t worry my gown and sexy peoples!!!!!11!1!!1!11! I’m learning too and its why I created this blog. While I’m learning this stuff and, in some ways, create a little knowledge base of terms for myself, I totally expect you to look around  as well.

Besides, why shouldn’t fashion tech and money go together?

Comment Of The Day by Mets4ever on “Cop bungle almost new Sean Bell case”

Good lawd… while I think this is exaggerate just a tad (I don’t think 50 bullets would have been fired here) I did read something that I personally have been trying to get my fellow brothers and sisters to get:

Mets4ever May 12, 2008 4:18:26 PM Report Offensive Post

>>>>Sports……Excerpt from a J. Whitlock column………………Thank you, Don Imus. You’ve given us (black people) an excuse to avoid our real problem…..we can once again wallow in victimhood, protest like it’s 1965 and delude ourselves into believing that fixing your hatred is more necessary than eradicating our self-hatred…I’m sure at least one of the marvelous young women on the Rutgers basketball team is somewhere snapping her fingers to the beat of 50 Cent’s or Snoop Dogg’s latest ode glorifying nappy-headed pimps and hos. I ain’t saying Jesse, Al and Vivian are gold-diggas, but they don’t have the heart to mount a legitimate campaign against the real black-folk killas. It is us. At this time, we are our own worst enemies. We have allowed our youths to buy into a culture (hip hop) that has been perverted, corrupted and overtaken by prison culture. The music, attitude and behavior expressed in this culture is anti-black, anti-education, demeaning, self-destructive, pro-music, attitude and behavior expressed in this culture is anti-black, anti-education, demeaning, self-destructive, pro-drug dealing and violent. Rather than confront this heinous enemy from within, we sit back and wait for someone like Imus to have a slip of the tongue and make the mistake of repeating the things we say about ourselves. It’s embarrassing………………………………………………………………………………..J. Whitlock Sports……Do you agree with any of this. Im not picking a fight but from what I can determine, you make the most sense at of a few of these bloggers and I think you are competent enough to be open minded.

But the question is what do you think? I think the great debate in the black community will be starting to climb (I hope).
